Across the Universe

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE

Through the sublimatory and expressive forces of color, sometimes almost irreverent, the young Roman artist invites us to enter a free narrative that reveals the anxieties of the self and the unpredictable vibrations of the unconscious.

His works are abstract, containing the energy to alter the surface texture upon which layers of color, drippings, broad chiaroscuro brushstrokes, and other symbolic operations expand, infusing a magnetic conceptual overlap that seems to extend beyond the plane of representation, with a vibrant sum of transparencies. Caronia’s action does not always arise from controlled and defined gestures, but more frequently from an instinctual component that aims, however, to narrate, as in a tortuous journey, a story of life hidden away, left, perhaps, unexpressed for many years, and ready to be reinterpreted by the viewer of the work. An experimentation aimed at making visible the atmospheric sensitivity of inner landscapes; in Caronia’s body of work, especially in the series Space, Raw Collections, and Elements of the earth, we can encounter a pulsating, intense, and somewhat disturbing painting, an expressive force formulated freely in the gesture, a lively symbolism that seeks answers to emblematic questions and turns toward a future perceptible by the universal soul. This is how painting can create a sidereal image of the mystery of origins and lead to a path that humans can embark on toward greater inner awareness, a true challenge of existence; an interconnection with the Universe that progressively reveals itself to the illuminated mind, through choices and traces that life offers us.
